ATLAS Armor Carrier Flex Kit
ATLAS Armor Carrier Flex Kit
NEW From ATLAS: The Armor Carrier Flex Kit allows you to add adjustable girth flex to your Safariland Bothell or Oregon City Armor Carrier. THIS KIT DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY OTHER SAFARILAND CARRIER, i.e. the 6840. From the factory, the side cummerbund straps on the Carrier feature a VELCRO attachment on the rear side of the Carrier inside a channel/fixed flap, and while adjustable for fit, there is no give or flex when your torso expands when moving, breathing hard or layering clothing underneath. Once adjusted, the attachment is fixed. Our Flex Kit covers the VELCRO loop on the cummerbund straps and joins them inside the rear channel with Shock Cord, allowing flex and for the cummerbund straps to move.
SEE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW
Our Kit comes with (2) 4" X 6" laser-cut laminate pieces, stitched with VELCRO Hook and (6) loops per side, and 9’ of heavy duty Shock Cord. The Flex Kit can be used in conjunction with our popular Side Extension Kit, if needed. As with all ATLAS products, these are Oregon-built and crafted to be lightweight, rugged and simple.
Start by disconnecting each Side Cummerbund Strap from the rear of the Carrier. Take the (2) Velcro Loop pieces from the kit and insert them into the channel, covering the Velcro Hoop where the Cummerbund Straps were previously attached. This protects the Flex Kit Anchors from getting torn up by the Velcro Hook. Lace the included Shock Cord between the (2) Flex Kit Anchors as you would when lacing a boot. Fewer lace points will mean more flex. It’s adjustable and entirely up to you how to lace it. Adjust the distance between the Anchors to match the previous points where they connected for your fit. Tie a simple overhand knot in the shock cord to prevent unraveling. Attach an Anchor to a Side Cummerbund, covering the existing Velcro Loop and then thread the other Anchor through the channel. Attach the second Anchor to the Side Cummerbund on the opposite side, again covering the existing Velcro Loop. The Flex Kit should wind up hidden in the channel and the rear of your Carrier will look the same as it did prior to installation. Enjoy the flex!
